One of my favorite classes this semester is Pre-Med Seminar.  I don’t say this because it is a zero credit hour class or that you get a passing grade for just showing up.  I say this because it is very beneficial for all students looking to be entering medical school one day.  The Pre-Med Seminar is a brand new program this year.  Lasting five semesters, it begins the second semester of your freshman year and ends the second semester of your junior year.   The goal of the program is to educate students looking to go to medical school about the application process and the necessities needed to be a qualified prospective medical school student.

Today is the last day of Fall Break, and I am entirely UNready to return to school tomorrow...However, I really appreciate that Creighton gives its students a whole week off to rest and relax after a vigorous 2 months of school and work, as not many schools have an opportunity like this. The students here make exciting plans, for example a few of my guy friends went backpacking thru New Mexico for a few days, while others took advantage of the break and drove to places such as Chicago, Colorado, and Madison. Many of the students drive or fly home for the week, and a handful stick around campus. To me, the best part about coming back together is hearing the stories they all tell and what everyone has done for the past week. The Fulbright Program has named Creighton University to its list of colleges and universities that produced the most 2009-2010 U.S. Fulbright Fellows.

Creighton placed among the top 10 in the country when its percentage of applicants actually awarded fellowships was compared to the number of students applying. Only seven institutions had a higher percentage of applicants awarded.

With the apparent cold front setting in (SNOW last saturday...what is up with that!?!?) a girl has got to keep busy to stay warm! Recently there have been a lot of things hitting my social calendar,  including a  trip down to The Slowdown to catch a concert this past saturday. The band featured was actually a reggae band from my homestate of Honolulu Hawaii called Pepper, and it was nice to see (and hear) some familiar tunes when out on the town in Omaha on a saturday night. A friend and I actually got asked by one of the band members to go backstage (insert excited scream here) so after about 20 plus concerts I have attended at The Slowdown, I got on the inside!!! You may find it strange that my first post is during mid-term week. I guess I was just excited to write something besides a paper! 

I have been studying like crazy, but was able to catch a few fun events this weekend. Kappa Kappa Gamma had their chili feed and Phi Delta Theta had their annual 3v3 soccer tournament. Each were a welcomed break from the snow outside. (Yes. Snow in early October!) Unfortunately, I had to sit outside to catch the Creighton Men's soccer game against Eastern Illinois. However, it was worth it because we won 5-1. That win brought our record to 5-2-2. Now I have to make it through my pile of tests and papers this week! My fall break ... Read More »

September and August 2009 Recaps---or Attempts to Recap!

So last month was September...apparently! Time flew by as school started the last few weeks of August, September happened, and here were are in October.
