Well, I think we have successfully made it through most if not all of the First 1st's of the new Fall Semester. I co-lead a senior nursing course and we have just had our first exam, our first clinical experiences, our first term paper assignment completed...whew, I am a bit tired! BUT, I think most of the students and faculty are pretty well settled into our new routines and getting a good start to the semester. My sons have also had some firsts at their schools, so I guess we are getting new routines all around!
I was thinking about how for me, routines are so important in our lives. They give us structure and focus and help us from getting too far off track. Routines--especially those that start up again at the beginning of the school year--also produce memories of times gone by. For me, every August I think of when I moved into the dorms from home.
