about me, and other random CU tidbits

Lianna NgI definitely feel that we've been falling into winter. it seems that Omaha plays little tricks on you. One day cold, and then next so gorgeous that you almost want to stay outside all day. Well ALMOST. Life for me is always speeding up and slowing down. I don’t know which one I like better! This past weekend the music scene in Omaha was “bumping” you could say. I got to see two of my favorite singers at The Slowdown, a music/bar/restaurant venue just 4 blocks from the east edge of campus. The two artists that I watched this weekend were Matt Nathanson and Ingrid Michaelson. I love the slowdown because besides the crowds of interesting people it draws, it also creates a kind of low key intimate setting with the musi ... Read More »

Lianna Ngtoday is election day! are you an obama or mccain supporter?? seems like some people on campus were sporting their gear  today. its nice to know that here at creighton we can be ourselves and be able to express ourselves without fearing that our peers are judging us and keeping us from believing in what we want. that is one of things that i appreciate most about Creighton.

Lianna Ngweather has taken an interesting twist here in omaha. being from hawaii- i remember it being a little bit of a shock when i was a freshman. however, with a couple of years under my belt, i can successfully say that i managed to deal with the weather changes very well! I even avoided my usual “fall cold”- a sneeze and mild headache due to the fact that my body has had 18 blissful years in the warm Hawaii sunshine and is not used to the sub 60 degree weather in Omaha. With  fall break coming up, the campus is in such a flurry of activity. My roommate remarked to me that she didn’t want to go library to study on a Sunday night because the “social scene” that exists there. Social scene? Sunday? Oh man. You must know at ... Read More »

Lianna NgHomecoming week has come and gone, and in the midst of it all i find myself wondering why i had so many tests! I was able to sneak away for a bit and watch the hyponotist, which was funny as they usually are. It's great that Creighton provides it's students for so many things to do during homecoming week. The community is small enough that it is easy to get involved and participate, or just sit and enjoy some of the things going on around you.

i did also get to catch the golf cart parade, which is a parade that features student decorated carts from various clubs, sororoties, and fraternities, along with other Creighton groups. i think one of my favorites was the Delta Zeta cart, which had a turtle on a magic carpet!

Lianna Nghah i dont know why i titled the blog that, just it sounded clever.

week three down in the books for the year being over! (not that i am counting or anything) this week was exceptionally busy with lots of school related things. this year i am a BIO 211 TA, so getting to know the students in my class has been a real pleasure and lots of fun. It's nice to know that i still remeber some of the material from when i took the class a couple years ago. other than that, i am also working in the Creighton Medical Center ER, which is lots of fun. nothing to interesting from there yet- but i will keep you posted.

we've had some excellent weather in omaha this weekend, i took advantage of going to a couple outdoor concerts downtown. omaha might get teased a lot for being i ... Read More »

Lianna NgHow are you all? I've definately been absent from this blog for a while. Taking a summer break, you could say. hehe. I've been doing well here in omaha. I think that that last you heard from me I was telling you about the house and the start of the new year. I completed my first week of school last week, but it was only a three day week and then I got a three day weekend for labor day. I was supposed to go to Minnesota with my roomates Molly and Mari to check out the state fair, which is a big deal there, but I didn't end up going because I was scheduled for work and I forgot all about it! instead, I just stayed in Omaha and spent some quality time with my hawaiian friends and my other roomate Rachel, who also decided to stick around for ... Hey there, haven't heard from me in a while, have you? Well the weather here is giving everyone the chills and I can't say I quite escaped it. Just recovered from a week long flu, full of lots of liquids, miserable walks to classes, and miserable classes in general.High price to pay for the giddy sophmore. Other than that just getting back into the groove. Physics and Bio look like the toughest courses this semester. Having some fun taking tennis and an asian studies class but other than that just Science, and you guessed it, Religion. I've been looking at a house with some friends for next year, and I think we will be signing the lease for it today! It's gigantic and wonderful and I dont know how i'll ever live with realestate prices in hawaii when im getting a three story house for $1200 / month.

Hello everyone. CAN I JUST SAY, FINALS ARE OVER??????? I am officially done with all the classes that I have been taking for the last semester. Nothing is more exciting then getting home after finals, enjoying the weekend, and then logging on early on Monday morning to check grades! Haha. But I am here, sitting in Hawaii and enjoying my new found freedom. So what do college students do over break? Mine will be full of friends, beach, work, and quality family time. Mostly work though. I hope everyone out there is enjoying their freedom and will have a good Christmas..until next semester…have good one!

Hello there!

As the last week of classes come to a close, I'm starting to really feel two very big things. One of those things is that finals are coming up, and well, enough said there. Finals really just bring the stress level right up, and no matter how many hours I put in the library, I still walk into the final room feeling like my grade is going to be a total toss up! The other very exciting thing is that in exactly one week, I will be on a plane to HAWAII. Where it is green and sunny, and nothing like Omaha. No white christmas for meRead More »

As of today, less than 2 weeks before finals are over and I will be back home! Honestly? I cant wait. Something about mom’s home cooking and the warm weather has me wishing to be home this December. I’ve actually been quite occupied since the last time you heard from me, and I’ve definitely been keeping busy.
This last week, I went to see Creighton’s dance program put on the Nutcracker. It definitely put me in the holiday cheer, and the costumes and sets were fantastic. I’ve seen many renditions of the ballet and this one was one of the better. It was also the week to finally light the mall with it’s Christmas lights and decorations. Every year the IRHG puts on a great little lighting ceremony, and while I was no ... Read More »
