We knew it was not simply a cost but an investment partnership between our family, our daughter, and Creighton.

There were three things we were looking for in a college for Erica: one was value, one was mentoring—we wanted faculty to interact with students directly—and the last one of course, was academics. After visiting Creighton, we knew it was not simply a cost but an investment partnership between our family, our daughter, and Creighton. And as it’s turning out, the benefit of our investment will be paid back over the rest of her lifetime. As a faculty member at another institution, I have a great appreciation for the quality of education that our daughter is getting at a nationally recognized university. We know we have made a very, very good investment.

The deciding factor for us was the mentoring here at Creighton. Erica wants to go to law school and become a lawyer, and she has found a close-knit community in the Political Science Department. So in addition to the official advising that she has, there’s also informal advising that goes on every day. And most importantly, students get to talk about their dreams and their desires, their fears, and they get to have somebody assure them that everything is going to be fine—that is priceless.

On campus, the opportunity for undergraduates to interact with graduate and professional students is rare—what better role model is there than to have the professional students, those that you aspire to be, interact with you on a daily basis?
