Research is more than something I do at Creighton—it’s my way of life.
I didn’t plan to become an undergraduate researcher, but when the opportunity arose to work on a research project during the first semester of my sophomore year, I took it. I’m so glad I did because, although I came to Creighton because of the undergraduate access to the medical and professional schools, research was something new and intriguing. After two years of research, I plan to go to graduate school after my senior year here at Creighton and hopefully work for a pharmaceutical company or biotech company performing bio-medical research.
Thanks to a lot of help and encouragement from Dr. Soukup, the professor I worked with on the research, I was honored to win the Clare Booth Luce Scholarship, an award for women who are pursuing careers in science, math and engineering. It is giving me the opportunity to completely devote myself to research and academics. Research is more than something I do at Creighton—it’s my way of life.
