Transfer Student Information

At Creighton, we want you to grow in our community as a student and a scholar, but also as an interesting, talented young adult. We want you to gain the perspective to know exactly what you want to do in life—and the skills to do it brilliantly. Also, we want you to discover how to achieve personal goals in the context of a compassionate, faith-filled view of the world that leads you naturally to respect and serve others.

The information below should assist you with your transition. If you have further questions about transferring to Creighton, please feel free to contact Katie Rieff, at KatrinaRieff@creighton.edu or 1-800-282-5835.

Transfer requirements

Students in good academic and personal standing at another accredited university, college or junior college may apply for admission to Creighton University as a transfer student. All college-level work attempted and your high school academic record are considered for admission. An overall college GPA or 2.75 or higher is recommended for acceptance.

Tranfering College Credit

Creighton usually accepts credits from other post-secondary institutions, as long as the course was at an accredited institution, fairly basic in subject matter, and the student has earned a “C” or better in the course. Generally, the college you apply to—Arts and Sciences, Business Administration or Nursing—will determine how each specific class transfers. At times the courses may fulfill specific core requirements. Other times, you will earn elective credit for the course. The transfer credit evaluation process occurs during the application review process for the College of Business Administration and School of Nursing. The College of Arts and Sciences reviews transfer credits after the student is accepted to Creighton.

Creighton Credit Requirements

Since a minimum of 48 hours must be taken at Creighton, you should plan to spend your last two years here. A maximum of 80 hours will transfer towards a Creighton degree. The minimum number of hours in your major which must be taken at Creighton are 15 in the College of Arts and Sciences, 15-18 in the College of Business Administration or 20 in the School of Nursing.
