13th Annual Native American Retreat

Friday, April 3, 2009
9:00 am - 9:00 pm

Creighton University
Skutt Student Center
2500 California Plaza

This is an intense all day program designed to help Native American high school students think about and prepare for higher education.

In addition to designing a program that exposes students to college life through experiential learning, we provide facilitated learning sessions on college preparation and career options. The purpose of this program is to formulate and carry out an educational program that will:

  1. Explore cultural identity and values as they relate to career goals and college options
  2. Increase awareness of obstacles to success and how to overcome them
  3. Expose students to the college environment and the resources available for college
  4. Eliminate student's fear of college and emphasize college as a reality

This year we will select 50 Native American high school students to participate in our annual retreat and experience college life at Creighton University.  Participants have the opportunity to experience interactive career opportunity sessions, attend sessions on college preparation, and take part in planned social activities.  Participants have the opportunity to meet Native American college students, professionals, and performers.
