New Flexibility with Our Test-Optional Policy

Many students have been unable to take the ACT or SAT as planned this year. Canceled testing dates, limited capacity, and other challenges have increased students’ anxiety about standardized testing. As a result, this year, we’re adjusting our test-optional policy to be more flexible. We don’t want students to pause their college search while waiting for an upcoming test date. We are encouraging students to apply to Creighton as a test-optional applicant.

Then, if a student is able to take a test in the coming months and they want their application to be re-reviewed for merit scholarships with the test score, they will be able to do so through the December 2023 testing dates. (Test scores must be received by February 1, 2024.)

In fact, we will review and award scholarships based on the highest possible scholarship outcome. If a student sends scores after admission that would improve their scholarship award, we will re-evaluate. If scores are sent after admission that would negatively affect their scholarship decision, no change will be made.

Learn more about our test-optional policy or contact the admissions counselor that works with your school to get more information.

Why Creighton?

A Dedication to Excellence: Creighton is dedicated to challenging and supporting students, to helping them grow into successful and compassionate leaders. We offer unrivaled breadth and depth of academic programming, craft a personalized educational experience for our students, and ground everything we do in the Jesuit tradition. This means deeply personalized support in the classroom and beyond.

A Lifetime of Value: Our highest priority is creating a lifetime of value for our students. It’s the reason we founded Student Success, a unique resource aimed at student success. Here our students receive one-on-one academic coaching, group and individual tutoring, pre-health and pre-law seminars, as well as career advising that puts students in direct contact with employers.

The Application Process: Students most successful at gaining admission to Creighton are those who have a strong academic background and get involved in leadership and service activities. Students can apply throughout the year through our rolling admissions policy. However, we recommend that they apply as early as possible to be eligible for scholarship consideration. Students intending to apply by a priority deadline need to submit their application and personal statement by the priority deadline, however, transcripts, test scores and letters of recommendation can be received or postmarked by December 1.
